What's new in Jackdaw

Changed

• One price — Jackdaw is now a single perpetual licence at $5 / 5 €: one payment, yours for good. The monthly and yearly subscriptions are retired. The buy screen and Settings → Plan offer one button instead of a three-way choice.
• If you already subscribe — nothing changes. Your plan keeps renewing and you still manage or cancel it from Settings → Plan → Manage Subscription.

• Buy button — the checkout link shipped in 1.2.2 pointed at a payment page that no longer accepts payment. It opens the current one again.

• Drop shelf brightness — dragging files to the screen edge lit the drop card up as a solid blue panel, and a finished drop turned it solid green. Both were bright enough to pull your eye off whatever you were dragging from. The cards are glass again: the desktop shows through them, and the state reads as a soft glow around the edge.

• Drop shelf highlight — the shelf now uses the same highlight as a selected card in the clipboard drawer, so the two finally match. A completed drop confirms with a brief neutral glow that fades away, rather than a green flash.

• Recording shortcuts — on macOS Tahoe, an empty shortcut field (Toggle Dictation, or any field you had cleared) looked focused but ignored every key. Recording now works in every row of the Shortcuts settings.
• Card badges under the glass — the number badges and the action buttons on each card were rendered beneath the card’s glass and smeared into coloured blobs. They now sit cleanly on top.

• Cards — each card carries its own glass again rather than sharing one glass layer, so what belongs on a card stays visibly on it.

• Real Liquid Glass — the overlay, cards, filter bar, toasts and the drop zone now render on macOS Tahoe’s native glass, with true lensing instead of blurred materials.
• Legibility on glass — toasts and the drop zone keep a dark appearance so text stays readable over any desktop.
• Requires macOS 26 (Tahoe) — Macs on earlier versions keep 1.1.1, which keeps working; updates resume after upgrading macOS.

• File shelf rendering — on macOS Tahoe, hovering the drop zone with files grew an empty dark slab with the card’s content stuck in a corner. The glass now tracks the card wherever it grows.
• File shelf language — the “Drop N files” prompt now speaks your language instead of falling back to English.

• Compact file shelf — the drop cards are narrower, and the hovered card grows more gently — and never covers the card next to it.

• Pinch to preview — spread two fingers apart on a card to open its full preview; release, and you’re right back to browsing.
• Source-app filter — every card shows the icon of the app it was copied from. Click it to filter your history to that app.
• Compact filter bar — filters now live in a pinnable bar instead of a popover, with icon-only All/Pinned pills.
• Display language — choose Jackdaw’s language in Settings (English, French, Spanish, German, Chinese) and relaunch in place.
• Handoff badge — clips copied on another Apple device are labelled as such instead of being attributed to a local app.
• Drag text as text — dragging a text clip out of Jackdaw now drops real text into the target, not a file.
• File shelf card — the drop zone is a Liquid Glass card that grows on hover and fans out a preview of what it holds.
• Excluded apps — apps excluded in Settings are now truly ignored by the clipboard monitor.

• Dictation’s two-minute timeout now actually stops a stuck session.

• Clipboard history — press ⌘⌃V to slide in your recent clips. Click a card or press 1–9 to paste, start typing to search.
• Pinned items — keep the snippets you reuse one keystroke away; pinned entries survive Clear History.
• Edge gesture — push your cursor against the right edge of the screen to reveal the drawer.
• File shelf — drag one or more files to the right edge to collect them as a single entry.
• Password generator — ⌘⌃G generates a strong password, pastes it, and saves a masked entry labelled with the site you were on.
• On-device dictation — hold ⌥Space to speak, release to transcribe and paste. 25 languages, nothing leaves the Mac.
