What's new in Jackdaw

Changed

• Search matches inside words — type any part of a word and the clip turns up: “rop” finds “proposition”. Several words find clips that contain all of them, in any order.
• A pinned filter keeps your search — with the filter pinned, reopening Jackdaw brings back your search and the All/Pinned view along with the filters, so you land on the same results.

Fixed

• Typing “p” in search pinned a clip — the first letter of a search could trigger the Pin shortcut. Letters typed in the search field now always go to the search, and Pin defaults to ⌥P.

• Teach it your words — after a dictation, Jackdaw checks the transcript on your Mac with Apple Intelligence. When a word looks misheard, the dictation pill comes back with the likely spelling: one click adds it to your dictionary and fixes the clip in your history, and every later dictation gets it right. If Jackdaw isn’t sure of the spelling, type it in the pill. Ignore a word once and it is never proposed again. Needs Apple Intelligence turned on; the audio and the transcript never leave your Mac.
• Voice settings — a status row says whether suggestions are available, with a button to turn on Apple Intelligence when they aren’t, and the words you chose to ignore are listed so you can bring one back.

• What’s new could quit the app — opening the post-update tour while the drop zones rebuilt themselves could crash Jackdaw before the window appeared.

Changed

• Real glass — the drawer follows your Mac’s light or dark appearance and lenses the desktop behind it instead of sitting on a smoked plate. Text on a card gets the system’s vibrant treatment, and a resting card no longer glows.
• Images and link previews — the picture now fills the card. Its type, the time and the source app float above it as separate glass capsules, and the app capsule still filters the list. The black gradients over every picture are gone.
• Colour clips — a colour is an opaque swatch on glass tinted with that colour, with the code beside it. Text contrast is decided on the tint you actually see, so a pale yellow reads as well as a deep purple, and an rgba() transparency thins the tint.
• Text reads as text — notes and dictation use the system’s proportional face; paths, keys and code keep monospace. Long rich text fades out at the bottom instead of being sliced mid-line.
• Card buttons — share, open, reveal, edit and preview now appear on the selected card only (hovering a card selects it). The pin marker stays visible, and the selected card gets a clear accent ring.
• Dictated clips are labelled in your language.

Added

• Undo — deleting a clip, clearing a type or clearing the whole history can be taken back for a few seconds, from the Undo button or with Cmd-Z. Per-type clears no longer ask for confirmation; Clear All still does.
• Keyboard shortcuts — press Cmd-? or the keyboard button in the search field for a card of every key, with your own bindings.
• Empty lists explain themselves — nothing copied yet tells you how to open Jackdaw from anywhere; no search result offers to clear the search and the filters; nothing pinned tells you how to pin.
• VoiceOver — every card offers Paste, Pin, Delete and Preview as actions, and announces a delete with the key to undo it.

Changed

• One price — Jackdaw is now a single perpetual licence at $5 / 5 €: one payment, yours for good. The monthly and yearly subscriptions are retired. The buy screen and Settings → Plan offer one button instead of a three-way choice.
• If you already subscribe — nothing changes. Your plan keeps renewing and you still manage or cancel it from Settings → Plan → Manage Subscription.

• Buy button — the checkout link shipped in 1.2.2 pointed at a payment page that no longer accepts payment. It opens the current one again.

• Drop shelf brightness — dragging files to the screen edge lit the drop card up as a solid blue panel, and a finished drop turned it solid green. Both were bright enough to pull your eye off whatever you were dragging from. The cards are glass again: the desktop shows through them, and the state reads as a soft glow around the edge.

• Drop shelf highlight — the shelf now uses the same highlight as a selected card in the clipboard drawer, so the two finally match. A completed drop confirms with a brief neutral glow that fades away, rather than a green flash.

Fixed

• Recording shortcuts — on macOS Tahoe, an empty shortcut field (Toggle Dictation, or any field you had cleared) looked focused but ignored every key. Recording now works in every row of the Shortcuts settings.
• Card badges under the glass — the number badges and the action buttons on each card were rendered beneath the card’s glass and smeared into coloured blobs. They now sit cleanly on top.

• Cards — each card carries its own glass again rather than sharing one glass layer, so what belongs on a card stays visibly on it.

• Real Liquid Glass — the overlay, cards, filter bar, toasts and the drop zone now render on macOS Tahoe’s native glass, with true lensing instead of blurred materials.
• Legibility on glass — toasts and the drop zone keep a dark appearance so text stays readable over any desktop.
• Requires macOS 26 (Tahoe) — Macs on earlier versions keep 1.1.1, which keeps working; updates resume after upgrading macOS.

• File shelf rendering — on macOS Tahoe, hovering the drop zone with files grew an empty dark slab with the card’s content stuck in a corner. The glass now tracks the card wherever it grows.
• File shelf language — the “Drop N files” prompt now speaks your language instead of falling back to English.

• Compact file shelf — the drop cards are narrower, and the hovered card grows more gently — and never covers the card next to it.

Added

• Pinch to preview — spread two fingers apart on a card to open its full preview; release, and you’re right back to browsing.
• Source-app filter — every card shows the icon of the app it was copied from. Click it to filter your history to that app.
• Compact filter bar — filters now live in a pinnable bar instead of a popover, with icon-only All/Pinned pills.
• Display language — choose Jackdaw’s language in Settings (English, French, Spanish, German, Chinese) and relaunch in place.
• Handoff badge — clips copied on another Apple device are labelled as such instead of being attributed to a local app.
• Drag text as text — dragging a text clip out of Jackdaw now drops real text into the target, not a file.
• File shelf card — the drop zone is a Liquid Glass card that grows on hover and fans out a preview of what it holds.
• Excluded apps — apps excluded in Settings are now truly ignored by the clipboard monitor.

• File shelf — drag one or more files to the right edge to collect them as a single entry.
